We consider our dogs members of our family, before anything else. We also are very passionate about the fact that each dog deserves to be your best friend, get unconditional love, and plenty of time. We started this guardian program to enable us to continue to move forward with the goals of our program, while still allowing all the dogs in our program to receive the one-on-one attention that they deserve. We want our dogs to be loved on and to be a part of a family to develop to their full potential. Ultimately it is a win - win for everyone, as the family receives a quality puppy at a reduced fee, we are able to continue moving forward with our program while maintaining high standards of care, and the puppy has a forever family where they receive one on one attention, training, and care.
As a guardian home you will receive a well-bred puppy/dog, at a reduced or waived fee, to love, care for, and enjoy. All guardian families must be approved and agree to abide by our contract of terms/care. Below you may find some terms, but please reach out to me to discuss further, and address any questions you may have.
Guardian Homes Must….
Own their own home is preferred, or have a lease/rental agreement permitting them to have the dog
Prior experience of giant breed ownership
Be willing to crate and house train the puppy
Be able to provide monthly flea/tick prevention with approved products, maintain regular vet care including vaccines, and deworming.
Keep puppy on an appropriate approved diet
Fenced backyard or ability to safely supervise and contain the puppy while outside.
Understand that a male may need to come to my home for approx. a week at once, and that sometimes I may need him once or twice a month, and other times I won’t need him for months.
Understand that the puppy is to be part of your family and may never live outdoors
Keep me updated with photos and updates as he/she grows
Be willing to socialize and provide basic obedience training
Understand that in the case of a female it is your responsibility to let me know at the beginning of a heat cycle, and that when of age she will come to me to be bred and will return to you until approx. a week before her due date, at which time she will come back to me to whelp and raise her litter. During this time, you will receive many updates on your pup, and she will return to you as soon as puppies are weaned.
Why Be A Guardian Home?
A guardian home receives the following…
A quality “pick of litter” puppy or dog at a very reduced OR waived fee
Older dogs are already trained, you can skip the puppy stage and house training.
Spay/Neuter paid for at the end of terms, by me. ]
Pet Sitting when you are away (when we don’t have puppies)
Guardian homes do require everyone to be on board, and in good communication. At the end of our guardian terms, I will have your pup spayed/neutered at my cost, at which time our terms will be completed, and all ownership transferred to you. If this sounds like an opportunity that may be right for your family, please reach out via our contact form.
